Sunway Clinical Research Centre Marks Second Clinical Trial Awareness Day, Driving Meaningful Public Awareness & Engagement

On 15 August 2025, Sunway Clinical Research Centre (SCRC) successfully held its 2nd Clinical Trial Awareness Day at the SunMed Convention Centre, Sunway Medical Centre. The event brought together patients, healthcare professionals, colleagues and members of the public for a meaningful and engaging celebration of clinical research.

The event featured an insightful lunch talk by Dato’ Dr Chang Kian Meng, consultant haematologist and experienced clinical trialist, who introduced the fundamentals of clinical trials and highlighted the importance of advancing healthcare. This was followed by an inspiring session by Dr David Lee Dai Wee, consultant clinical oncologist, who shared his experiences in early-phase clinical trials and international multi-centre cancer studies, offering valuable perspectives into the impact of research on global medical advancements.

A key highlight of the day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC) and CSI Medical Research. This partnership marks a significant step forward in strengthening collaboration in medical innovation, enhancing research excellence, and supporting the training and development of the next generation of clinical research professionals.

The event also featured a variety of fun games and engaging booths, for the participants to learn more about clinical trials. A notable milestone was the public launch of first clinical trial comic book, developed to raise awareness and address common misconceptions in a creative, accessible, and reader-friendly format.

Reflecting SCRC’s ongoing commitment to advancing research and community engagement, the event successfully fostered greater awareness and understanding of the importance of clinical trials in improving patient outcomes and shaping the future of healthcare.
